With a celebration of life and fond memories, we announce the passing of Paul W. Sorel, who departed this world on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the age of 62.
Born on December 18, 1962, in Dayton, Ohio, Paul lived a life full of fun, accomplishment, and love. Paul was preceded in death by his father, Roland Paul Sorel. He was a devoted family man, leaving behind his beloved mother, Pauline Sorel; son, Nick Sorel; daughter and son-in-law, Kasey and Stephen Dougherty; sister, Beth Sorel Gallof; sister, Kathy Sorel Sitten and husband Rick; brother, Roland J. Sorel; brother, Jim Sorel and wife Paige; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. His
family was his greatest treasure, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Growing up in Dunwoody, Georgia, Paul was a multi-sport athlete at Peachtree High School, earning varsity letters in basketball, golf, and football. His athletic accomplishments were highlighted by a Region Championship in golf as a freshman, and by the havoc he wreaked on quarterbacks as a defensive lineman. He would go on to earn a football scholarship from Furman University, but later transferred to Florida State University where he enjoyed his experience as a brother of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and graduated with a Business degree.
Gifted in the art of sales, he then embarked on a successful and passionate career where he became a highly regarded and record-breaking salesman in the home improvement industry for over two decades. He was acclaimed for his professional success and for owning and operating half a dozen "Hot Springs Spas of Atlanta" stores. His purposeful drive to contribute to the fun and leisure of families across the southeast made him a natural fit for success in the industry.
As a passionate sports fan, he especially enjoyed cheering on his beloved teams from the state of Georgia. In sports, his fandom came second only to the true joy he found on the golf course. A two-time club champion at Berkeley Hills Country Club, he also set the course record of 62 as part of the legendary group he headed with his dad, aptly named "The Big Boys". His golf career eventually culminated with an appearance in the US Amateur in 2000 at Baltusrol. All this considered, his most cherished memory in the game of golf was the victory he shared in the Berkeley Hills Father-Son Championship with his then
eleven-year-old son, Nick.
As we remember Paul's many life achievements in family, business, and sports, many would still say his greatest gift was his voice. Whether he was imparting wisdom and advice to his children, perfectly delivering the punchline of a joke, singing songs in the car, quoting his favorite movies, or telling fantastically captivating stories, Paul did it all to put smiles on the faces of everyone who knew him. May we celebrate his always positive attitude toward life, his constant laughter, and his vibrant, unconditionally loving personality that made a lasting impact on all those around him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks those who knew and loved him to send their favorite pictures and memories of Paul to his daughter, Kasey, at
