It was a sad day that our beloved, Paul Clifton Sorensen, passed away at home with his family at his side on Monday, July 21, 2025.

He was born in Varick, NY, on April 13, 1938, the son of the late Albert and Gladys "Pete" (McLaughlin) Sorensen.

Paul was enrolled in the school at Romulus, NY. His family moved here to Waverly when he was 6 years old and he graduated in the Class of 1956. Paul married Doris Johnson and their vows were said in the new Chapel Presbyterian Church in Waverly, NY. The had two children, Kevin and Patty.

After graduation, Paul went to work at Westinghouse, Elmira, NY. After he was layed off, he went to work for Romeo Allan's Gas Station. In 1961, he was recruited by the US Army at Fort Dix, NJ and served from 1961 to 1963. At the end of his military service, he worked for National Cash Register. Paul applied for a job at Trayers, Elmira, NY, and began his employment there in 1977 as a Supervisor in The Automatics working as a faithful employee for 26 years, retiring in 2003.

Paul was married to Mary Lou Sabin for 21 years. They enjoyed traveling, especially their trip to Graceland and their cruise to the New England. Family and friends were very dear to Paul and he loved family get-togethers, and attending sports events, in particular Waverly Sports, especially basketball and football. Paul was a proud Waverlyite. He was a man who cared about people and was always there to help anyone in need.

In his earlier years, Paul enjoyed umpiring/coaching Babe Ruth Baseball for 3 years, hunting, fishing, bowling with the Senior group, and racing cars at the Chemung Race Track. He also enjoyed reading books (his favorite author, Jonestown), doing puzzles, tending to his flowers, and going to the horse races at Tioga Downs.
