Paul Daniel Sullivan, 72, proud born and raised resident of Rochester, New York, passed peacefully in his home on July 30th, 2025. Paul was born on December 13th, 1952 to his parents, Charles ("Chuck") and Matilda ("Todd") Sullivan. His siblings are Mike, Jeanne, Pat and Terry.
Paul worked as a Recreational Therapist for over 30 years. He loved taking his clients to do fun activities all around the Greater Rochester area. Paul found his second career and passion in real estate. He sold his motorcycle and purchased his first apartment in the late 70's. His hard work and dedication led to him owning many residential and commercial properties all over the city. There were many highlights of his real estate career including his ownership of properties in historic areas like the beautiful Corn Hill and downtown Rochester. Throughout his career, he formed lasting connections/partnerships and provided homes to hundreds of residents.
If you knew him, you know that the only thing he loved more than a nice car was a nice car he got a deal on. And he loved cars. Those close to him would often joke and say, "I wonder what car he will be driving today?" He loved playing cards and games, Euchre, Yahtzee, & Monopoly were among his favorites. We know that nobody loved sports as much as Paul did. He would travel to games all over the country. But he didn't need to travel far to see his favorite athletes - his kids, nephews, nieces and grandchildren. He was their biggest fan. He was just as happy rooting for Tyler at McQuaid as he was texting with Addie about basketball. If it involved his grandkids, he was there.
Paul loved to be "out and about" as we would say. When he wasn't working on his properties, you could find him enjoying a Red Wings game, going to the bank or dealership, or probably his favorite–spending pool time with his family, enjoying a big glass of iced tea in one of his favorite large souvenir cups. He was a man of the Catholic faith and gave generously to the church.
Paul was known as a sport fanatic, "Mr. Real estate", car enthusiast, friend, father, uncle, brother, husband and maybe his favorite title, "Papa". He was a great storyteller, never one to let a little hyperbole get in the way of a good punch line. He never passed on giving a good toast either. He insisted on picking up the tab, always. He loved a good time. He gave fatherly wisdom when you wanted it, and silence when you needed it. He softened in his age. He was fun. He would ride roller coasters, drive with the top down and always dressed up for the airport. He did things his way but learned to bend. He loved his family. He was here and now that he's gone, he is missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Marsha, his daughter, Melissa (Will) and son, Scott (Rachel); and five cherished grandchildren, Addie, Tyler, Emmie, Delaney and Cameron. He didn't get the chance to meet his grandson who is arriving in September and will no doubt be watching over him as he grows. His passing was unexpected and deeply saddening for everyone. However, sharing many loving stories of his life and being surrounded by those who knew him has helped start the healing process for all of us.
-With so much love,
