Paul Wayne Sutter was born on August 10th, 1953, in Wharton, Texas to Raymond and Elenora Hollas Sutter. His father Raymond died when Paul was four years old. His mother then married Jim Kleypas. Jim treated Paul like his own son and taught Paul everything he knew about residential construction. Starting at a young age, Paul would work summers with Jim building houses. Paul graduated from Temple High School and Texas State Technical Institute in Waco. After graduation from TSTI, Paul worked with Jim for many years before starting his own residential construction company. Along the way, Paul taught himself computer-aided design (autocad) so he could design home plans for his customers. Paul then got a job at Scott & White as an autocad designer which also led to him teaching autocad at Temple College in the evenings. Paul then worked for a structural engineer designing foundations.
Paul was the proud owner of a 1942 military jeep that his father-in-law gave him. Paul restored the jeep and entered it in the 2022 Fourth of July parade in Belton. He could talk for hours about that jeep.
Paul was a very active member of First Lutheran Church, serving on the Church Council and as chairman of the Property Committee for many years.
Paul married Becky Vanicek in March 1976. They have two sons, Jason Sutter of Temple and Bradley Sutter of Porter who is married to Sarah, and they have a daughter, Sadie. Paul is also survived by two sisters, Joyce Haire of New Braunfels and Janice Mincy of Belton, Brother-in-law Brian Vanicek (Debbie) of McKinney, sister-in-law Beth Giniewicz (James) of Lake Texoma, two nieces Lisa Quinn of Salado and Lori Monk of New Braunfels.
Memorials donations can be made in Paul's name to First Lutheran Church, 1515 W. Adams, Temple, Texas 76504.
