Paul A. Thunstrom age 83 of Detroit Lakes, Mn died December 6, 2024, at his residence.
Paul Anthony Thunstrom was born September 9, 1941, in Rochert, Mn to Nels and Marian (Quinlain) Thunstrom. He attended Detroit Lakes Schools. He served in the United States Navy from 1961-1965 during the Vietnam War. He served on a Destroyer Ship and was later injured at Camp Pendleton and was honorably discharged. When he returned to Detroit Lakes he worked as a Baker in a Bakery. He later started his career with the City of Detroit Lakes as a Plant Operator for the Water and Waste-Water Department, where he retired after twenty-five years.
Paul enjoyed dancing, hunting, his Dodge trucks, his John Deere tractor, and his dogs, Sheba and Shadow. He married Carol in 1980 and together they resided in Rochert, on Rock Lake, until moving into Detroit Lakes due to Paul’s declining health.
He will be remembered and missed by his wife, Carol; four children, Terri (Greg Wharton) Thunstrom, of AZ; Robin Thunstrom, of AZ; Tammy (Al) Peterson, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Troy Stephenson, of St. Cloud, MN; seven grandchildren, Kayle, Krystle, Brianna, Brittny, Sasha, Trent, and Brittany; seventeen great grandchildren; two brothers, Gary (Terri) Thunstrom, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Timothy Thunstrom, of Detroit Lakes, MN; one sister, Norma Hedlund; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry Thunstrom and Dewey (Dorothy) Thunstrom.
