Paul C. Vigil Jr.
Paul Vigil passed away peacefully on the night of February 19, 2026, after living a full life of 80 years. A native of Santa Fe, NM, and residing in Rio Rancho for the last 23 years of his life, he left his fingerprints in many places.
An outstanding carpenter whose signature style was turning extra wood into beautiful pieces of furniture, he had the unique ability to see the potential in scrap wood and turn it into something beautiful. He shared a similar outlook on life, always taking what was in front of him and making the best of what he had.
After completing 12 years at St. Michael’s High School, he graduated in 1963. He met and married his loving wife of 60 years, Peggy Sanchez. He then began his career selling construction materials, primarily with Houston Lumber in Santa Fe. His integrity and expertise helped build strong business relationships, and he acquired many friends in the process.
Paul was a faithful, humble family man who never took more than he needed. He is preceded in death by his father, Paul Sr., and mother, Frutosa Vigil, from whom he learned his work ethic and devotion to family. He is also preceded in death by his sister Theresa (Tom) Utt. He is survived by his brothers Eloy (Martha), Robert Vigil; and sisters Ersinia Vigil and Patty (Win) Delapp, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was a loving father to his five children, Phyllis (Phillip) Griego, Phil Vigil, Pamela (Luis) Avila, Paula (Jared) Romero, and Patrice Vigil (Derrick Robba). He loved his eight grandchildren: Phylisa, Patrick (Emily), Peter Griego, Andres, Alysse, Lauren Avila, Sophia, and Jace Romero.
Paul was a quiet man with a unique sense of humor who impacted many lives for the better. He is deeply loved and will be forever missed.
