Paul Henry Wise

Paul Henry Wise, a beloved husband and father, passed away on January 4th 2026 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Paul was born on May 2nd 1942 in Houston, Texas to Fred and Doris Wise.

He joined the US Navy and he was initially stationed in Londonderry, Northern Ireland where he met the love of his

life, Cynthia (Cindy) McCandless to whom he was married for 61years.

Paul was always interested in all things engineering and he initially worked as a Radioman, and after Londonderry he was

then stationed in Puerto Rico, Bainbridge, Maryland, back to Ireland, then Naples Italy and finally Virginia Beach, where he

served 2 years on the USS America. After 20 years of active duty in the US Navy, rising to the position of Chief Radioman,

he transitioned to the Civil Service, and eventually retired from there another 20 years later.

After retiring from the Navy, Paul's hobbies included being an avid birdwatcher and photographer. loved looking after his beloved dogs and enjoyed the odd pint of Guiness. He made many friends in the Navy, many of whom have stayed friends throughout his life including Sara and John and Sandra

and the late Ted.

Paul was preceded in death by his son, Sean David Wise, and his brother David and sister Jane. He is survived by hie wife Cindy his sister-in-law Flora as well as nephews and nieces in Texas, Ireland and England.
