Charles Crecelius Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home - Tidewater Drive Chapel on Feb. 5, 2026.
Charles "Charlie" Crecelius, age 76, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Jan 26, 2026. A resident of Va Beach Va, Charlie joins his wife of 45 years, Nancy, in Heaven. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Arthur Crecelius and his mother Helena Marie Crecelius. Born in Indianapolis, IN, Charlie graduated from T.C. Howe High School and proudly served in the United States Navy for 20 years, followed by many additional years of service in the government sector. His commitment, discipline, and sense of duty defined much of his professional life. Above all else, Charlie's greatest joy was being a PawPaw. He cherished watching his grandchildren grow and took immense pride in the wonderful people they were becoming. Known for his love of Dad jokes, camping, and quiet family moments, Charlie brought warmth, laughter, and steadiness wherever he went. His dedication to his family, his service to his country and his kind dependable nature will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory are his two children Angela Crecelius, Chris Crecelius and wife Rhonda, two grandchildren, Will and Lainey Crecelius. He also leaves behind his sisters Carol Kitchen, Christy Cox and husband Larry, along with several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am Thursday, Feb. 12th, 2026 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church 712 Little Neck Road, Virginia Beach, Va 23452 by Rev. Fr. Venancio Balarote Jr. A private interment will be at the Albert G Horton, Jr Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Va.
