Peter Fay Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home - Tidewater Drive Chapel on Feb. 12, 2026.
Peter Fay passed away on January30, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by his faith in God, courage, service, and an unwavering devotion to those he loved. Peter was a world-class pilot, carrying himself in the air with exceptional skill, discipline, and calm, earning the respect of everyone who flew with him and learned from him. This is the same way he carried himself throughout life.

He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War and later retired from the United States Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel. His military career reflected his deep sense of duty, leadership, and commitment to excellence, qualities that shaped every aspect of his life. After retiring from the Air Force, Peter continued his passion for aviation by operating Mid Eastern Airways, a flight school and charter service in Chesapeake, Virginia. There, he mentored countless pilots, shared his hard- earned wisdom, and passed on not only technical skill, but the values of responsibility, confidence, and integrity – the same values that defined his life.

His greatest distinction was not his U.S. Air Force rank or reputation as a warfighter, having been recognized by President Nixon personally for saving several troops surrounded by the enemy in the jungle; but more importantly he is remembered as a hero to his own family. He was a loving father who taught his kids by example, and he was a husband, or a friend, he always had your back – especially when the chips were down, and everything seemed destined to fall apart. His calm strength and his integrity brought reassurance when it was needed most.

As a man of God, Peter lived his faith daily. His trust in the Lord guided his life, anchored his family, and it shaped the way he loved, led and served. He is survived by his daughter Leslie Grigsby, his son David Fay and the woman he loved with all his heart, Valerie Fay.

Reception will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 1PM – 3PM at Kempsville Presbyterian Church 805 Kempsville Road Virginia Beach, VA 23464.
