It is with great sadness the family of Paula Aranda Cortez, announce her passing on January 19, 2025. She was at her home of 50 years in Ventura, surrounded by her loving family. She was 89.
She is preceded in death by husband Delores Liscano Cortez, children Roel Cortez, Diana Bailey, Fabian Cortez and grandson Jacob Cortez. Paula is survived by sons Felix Cortez, Frank Cortez, Arnold Cortez and daughter Norma Gomez-Cortez along with 9 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren.
Paula was born in Pearsall, Texas on January 26, 1935 where she graduated from high school.
She then married the love of her life, Delores on May 11, 1953. Together they had 7 children Felix, Diana, Frank, Norma, Fabian, Roel and Arnold Cortez.
Paula and Delores moved from Texas to Ventura in 1969. In the early 1970s, they purchased their home on Delaware Dr where they planted roots and raised their children.
Paula was a mom and homemaker while children young. She later worked at VCMC retiring after 15 years as a manager of Medical Records department. Catholic throughout her life she was a dedicated woman of her faith and unwavering in her love of God and her family.
We want to thank Los Robles Healthcare for their support during this difficult time. A special thank you to daughter Norma Cortez-Gomez for her part in caring for her mom during the last days of her life.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm with a Most Holy Rosary to be recited at 3:00pm in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E Main St, Ventura. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Mission Basilica San Buenaventura at 10:30am. Burial will follow at 1:00pm in the Ivy Lawn Memorial Park.
