Paula M. Osburn

Paula M. Osburn, age 87, formerly of Onsted, Michigan, passed away in Bridgman, Michigan on March 7, 2026, with family present. She was born July 9, 1938, at Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan. Paula married Lawrence "Larry" Osburn in 1959, and was married for nearly 50 years. Paula was a devoted and loving wife to Larry and mother to three boys, Dr. Scot (Tammy) Osburn, Chris (Jen) Osburn, and Dr. Jon (Tho) Osburn. At home, she managed the farm while Larry worked the fields. Paula was also an elementary school teacher for over 30 years. She started teaching in Dundee before making a career at Brooklyn Elementary School, where she was recognized with several awards including teacher of the year and enriched the lives of nearly a thousand children over that time. She was a tireless advocate of women's rights, education, community service, and genealogy research. She was a member of the DAR, and a president of the Lenawee County Family Researchers. In retirement, Paula also made several sojourns to Europe. Her courage and her character has taught us the value of family, tradition, and helping those who need a voice. We are forever grateful for her love, wisdom, and legacy. Paula is survived by her three sons; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Linda, Marie, and Cindy. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her oldest sister. She will be lovingly missed by many beloved nieces and nephews. Paula's family recognizes the many friends and neighbors who blessed her life in later years, when she was unable to fully care for herself. Foremost, we wish to thank her niece Jennifer Van Wieren who lovingly tended to Paula and gave respite to her family when she needed more care. Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Monday, March 30, 2026, at Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI, with Pastor William VanValkenburg officiating. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh, MI. Visitation will also be on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the Purse Funeral Home in Adrian, MI.
