Paula Wapner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bradley Funeral Home - Marlton on Feb. 7, 2023.
Paula S. Wapner, 79, died at home in Moorestown, NJ on January 22, 2023, after an extended illness.
Paula is survived by her daughter, Karen and Karen's partner, Alix Schwartz, of Moorestown, NJ.
Paula was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gene; her two sons, Brian and Jeffrey; and her brother,
Richard Shingler.
Paula was born in Paris, TX, and raised in Hollidaysburg, PA. In her youth, Paula studied ballet and in her
later teenage years, she danced to win the title of Miss Central Pennsylvania. In her adult years she
taught at Miss Judy's School of Dance in Lewistown, PA. She also worked as a Visual Merchandiser at
the local Bon Ton and went on to become Manager at the Hummingbird, a clothing boutique in
Lewistown.
Paula was an active member of the congregation at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lewistown where,
along with Karen, she played in the Bell Choir for many years. She also enjoyed a long and proud
affiliation with R.O.F.F. Rescue (Rescue our Furry Friends). Through her work with R.O.F.F., many dogs
that Paula and Gene fostered went on to find forever homes.
Paula and Gene met when he was employed at the State College Post Office and she went in to mail a
letter. They were together for over 50 years until his death in 2015. During their marriage she was a
wonderful homemaker to her family and she created beauty wherever she was. Her gardens were a
thing to behold and her talents as a seamstress and quilter were well known to her family and friends.
Paula had an amazing capacity to be happy and hopeful, always. She was kind, gentle, and beloved by
everyone who knew her.
Arrangements are under the care of the Bradley Funeral Home, 601 Route 73 South, Marlton, NJ, 08053.
There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Rescue Our Furry
Friends, P.O. Box 6, Lewistown, PA 17044; or, Samaritan Hospice, PO Box 71425, Philadelphia, PA 19176.
