Paulette June Appleton (née Wilber), aged 69, passed away on August 11, 2025, in Lakewood, New Jersey. Born on June 22, 1956, in Syracuse, New York, she lived a life marked by devotion to her family and a passion for culinary arts.

Paulette graduated from West Genesee High School and carried forward the warmth of her upbringing throughout her life. She was a remarkable cook and baker, celebrated for her ability to turn any gathering into a moment of joy with her delicious creations. Her kitchen was not just a place for cooking but a space where love, care, and community were nurtured.

Before dedicating herself to family life, Paulette was at the forefront of the emerging field of word processing during the early days of its development. She was a valued member of Niagara Mohawk in Syracuse and later at EAI in West Long Branch, showcasing her pioneering spirit and professional acumen.

Paulette was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Reformation, where she served on the Altar Guild, taught Sunday School, and volunteered at the food pantry, displaying her deep faith and commitment to her community. Paulette's faith was quietly profound and reflected in her actions, particularly in her care for others. Whether family, friends, or strangers, she extended her kindness and generosity to all.

Paulette's legacy is cherished and carried on by her loving husband of 48 years, Ronald Appleton; children, Amy and Robert Appleton; daughter-in-law, Barbara Appleton; and her adored granddaughters, Amelie and Alena Appleton. She is also survived by her sister, Roberta Wilber. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Paul Wilber.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 14th from 4-7 PM at the Damiano Funeral Home in Long Branch, NJ. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 15th, at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation in West Long Branch, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Reformation, which will be directed to ELCA World Hunger and Lutheran Disaster Response. Paulette's spirit of giving and love will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

I have known Paulette before their children were born. She was such a great cook and baker. I still have and use recipes given to me by Paulette. I knew her from Reformation church. She and Ron also volunteered the same night at the food pantry with me and my late husband. She was so kind and welcoming to our clients as she signed them in. She will be missed and remembered. My sympathy to Ron, Amy and Bob and their family. So very sorry.

My favorite memory of Paulette was during the time of Super Storm Sandy. At the time I had welcomed in my daughter and her family of four plus the golden retriever and rabbit while their house was being repaired. After church one Sunday Paulette presented me a large Macy´s box. Inside were dozens of her homemade cookies, each type in its own section and labeled. My family still remembers those cookies and her sharing of her talent with them when it meant so much.
