Sybil Paulette (Salchow) Phillips was born in Vallejo, California, but raised in Billings, Missouri. After graduating from Billings High School, she moved to Springfield where she worked various jobs. Paulette was instrumental in allowing women to serve as Police Officers in Springfield, MO. And served as one of the first woman Police Officers from 1974 to 1982. After leaving the SPD she attended Wedgewood Beauty School and worked as a beautician until the death of her sister Sue in 1985. She then worked for MOCIC as a Criminal Analyst before retiring.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 yrs, Richard (Dick) Phillips who passed away on September 11, 2022. She is survived by Brett Phillips and his family of Portland, Oregon and Ryan Edwards and his family in Atlanta, Georgia.
Paulette had numerous interests and loved traveling with her husband Dick and their dogs in the RV. Together they drove the entire length of Route 66, from downtown Chicago to Santa Monica Pier in California, stopping along the way to take photographs and document their journeys in ledgers. Paulette was also a breast cancer survivor in 2010, thanks to the wonderful doctors & nurses in the Mercy system. She was also a volunteer for the Honor Flight of The Ozarks and a former volunteer at the Christian County Sheriff's Office.
Personal note from Paulette: Thank you all for sharing your lives with me and letting me share mine with you. I have been blessed with 81 years of good health and have had time that so many people do not get. I am thankful for a life that has been filled with adventures.
No services are planned. Paulette will be buried at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery with her husband Richard. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
