Paulette Sonnen, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, at the age of 81. Paulette was born on October 22, 1943, in La Grande, Oregon, to Edward Joseph and Eldora Gleason. She grew up in a family of four girls, alongside her sisters Claudia Gleason Sonnen, Earla Gleason, and the late Nedora Counts. After graduating from St. Paul High School, Paulette attended Oregon State University. She later married the love of her life, Rudy Sonnen, and together they built a beautiful life raising four sons: Sid, Lowell (Aine), Ty (Sheri), and the late Cory (Margaret). Paulette and Rudy shared 54 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and family. Paulette's greatest joy was her family. She adored her nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and her extended family, always making sure each one knew how deeply they were loved. Raising four boys was a highlight of her life, and she enthusiastically supported not only her sons' sports activities but also those of her grandchildren-proudly declaring them "the best of the best." Beyond family, Paulette lived a full and vibrant life. She achieved the rank of Life Master in duplicate bridge, was a competitive bowler for many years, and had an unquenchable love of reading. A true political junkie, she relished a good debate and enjoyed keeping up with current events. She also loved watching classic films, with Gone with the Wind holding a special place in her heart. Above all, Paulette will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her loved ones. She was a fierce supporter of family and friends, always making each person feel valued and cherished. Her legacy of love, loyalty, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
