Robert W. Sonnen , 86, of Richland, PA passed away at the Lebanon VA Medical Center on April 11th, 2024. Born on April 26th, 1937 in Millcreek Township, Lebanon County, he was the son of the late Edward and Minnie (Sweigart) Sonnen.
Robert "Bob" was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served in Korea from 1955 to 1957. Bob was a lifelong resident of Lebanon and Lancaster Counties and lived in Richland since 1958. Robert is predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Netzley). He was married to Betty for over 40 years, until her passing in 1999. They had two children, Brian and Donna, wife to Thomas Pettineo. He was the proud grandfather of Thomas and Alexander Pettineo. In addition to his children and grandchildren, he is survived by his siblings Elaine Rutter, Fay Harnish, Evelyn Schoenbuchner and Russell Sonnen. Other predeceased siblings are; John Steffy, Elwood Sonnen, Edward Sonnen, Jean Sonnen, Kenneth Sonnen, Shirley Shelly, Betty Weidler, Mary Jane Fry, Leroy Sonnen, June Achey, Patricia Thompson, Vivian Mountz and Gladys Fry. Bob was a member of the Mill Creek Rod and Gun Club and the VFW Post 6076 in Myerstown. Bob enjoyed watching baseball and football. He was an avid hunter, collector of antiques and loved spending time in his garden. 
Visitation will be held at Christman's Funeral Home in Lebanon, PA, Friday, April 19 from 10-11 AM, followed by services at 11AM.
Burial will be at Millbach Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any donations in remembrance of Bob to: VA Lebanon Healthcare System VA Lebanon Healthcare System Center for Development and Community Engagement 1700 South Lincoln Avenue Building 18 Mail Code 10V Lebanon, PA  17042. The areas that were supportive of Robert's care were: General Funds - Reference Fund #8101 Hospice - Reference Fund# 8183, Chaplain - Reference Fund #8125.
