There will be a wake service at 7 PM Wednesday at the church. Pauline passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025, at the Walworth County Care Center.
Pauline Berens was born on January 26, 1934, in Trail City to Michael and Catherine (Thomas) Aberle. Pauline attended Hoffert School in Trail City before going to school in Mobridge until the 10th grade when she had to help her mother with the family of 13.
On January 7, 1953, Pauline married Eddie Berens at St. Joseph's Church in Mobridge. Pauline and Eddie then began their own farming and livestock operation in rural Selby. While Eddie was farming Pauline raised their family of eight. She had a lovely life together with Eddie.
Pauline always had a big garden on the farm and kept herself busy doing other things such as cooking, sewing the girls clothes for school, crocheting, bowling, playing cards, riding with Eddie in the tractor and combine and being in the extension club. Pauline also loved singing in the St. Anthony's Catholic Church choir. What Pauline enjoyed the most was spoiling her grandchildren.
Pauline is survived by her children, Ron (Pat) Berens of North Carolina, Sylvia (Tom) Miklos of Selby, Mary (Kevin) Holgard of Glenham, Jean (Bob) Silva of Spark, Nevada, Mark (Linda) Berens of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jason (Laurel) Berens of Selby and Marlin (Jess) Berens of Glenham, 20 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, brother, Leo Aberle, and Stephen Aberle, sisters, Lucille (Orvil) Kuehl and Patricia Aberle.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Eddie in 2020, son, Allen Berens in 2014, brothers, James, Joseph, Timothy, Nick, Michael, sisters, Dorothy, Delores, and Marjorie.
