Pauline Eichstaedt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lyndahl Funeral Home on Jun. 6, 2025.
Pauline E. Eichstaedt, age 82, of Green Bay was called to her Heavenly home Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Woodside Senior Community.
Pauline was born October 18, 1942 in Garfield Heights, OH, daughter of the late Elwood and Lovern (Maher) Kopper.
She was a graduate of Garfield Heights High School with the Class of 1960. She went on to Concordia River Forest and got her teaching degree.
On June 18, 1966 she was united in marriage to Russell W. Eichstaedt in Garfield Heights, OH. He preceded her in death on February 14, 2022.
Pauline taught for a few years before she moved to West Allis and started teaching at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and she met Russ through a mutual friend. After getting Andrew and then Jennifer, she started teaching at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in the Nursery school program and started teaching 2nd grade at Pilgrim Lutheran School in 1982 only to have to leave before year end to have her surprise baby, Jonathan. The next year she went back and continued teaching 2nd grade until she retired in 2004. She spent many nights staying up to grade papers and dozing in her recliner (dozing was a hobby she kept all her life despite numerous attempts by Russ and the kids to go to bed). Pauline was an excellent teacher that had the unique combo of gentleness and strictness. She was so proud to see the joy in her student's faces when they got their Q in cursive or finally got that tough math problem. She loved telling "her" children about Jesus' love and watch them sing with all their hearts in church while she played the piano. She always said how special it was that she had a small part in bringing the little children to Jesus.
After they both retired, Russ and Pauline liked to take trips to Algoma and Copper Harbor to look at all the shops. They loved spending time with their grandchildren and doted on them. Pauline would go to Green Bay Gamblers games with Russ and soon fell in love with it as much as he did. They spent most of their retirement doing the Gambler's laundry (well Pauline did while Russ liked to wander and talk to everyone but Pauline didn't mind). She was happiest when Russ was happy and they were at the Resch – and he always took her out to eat after.
After Russ passed away, Pauline moved to Woodside where she was an active participant in all the activities. She loved doing crossword puzzles, planting and tending to the garden, playing Bingo, going to Happy Hour and especially doing crafts. If they ever needed anything for crafts, she would say, "hold on a minute," and go to her apartment and come back with feathers, or glitter or whatever random item was needed.
Survivors include her children and spouses: Jennifer and Alec Tantillo, Green Bay; Jonathan and Bridget Eichstaedt, Green Bay; two grandchildren: Carter & Reagan Tantillo; two grand-dogs: Yelich & Brewski; one adored brother: Elwood (Joan) Kopper, Clayton, N.C.; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Carole Colla, Milwaukee; Nancy (Paul) Mills, Milwaukee; as well as other much-loved relatives and friends.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents Elwood & Lovern Kopper, her husband Russell Eichstaedt, one son Andrew Eichstaedt, mother-in-law and father-in-law Elmer & Isabell Eichstaedt, one brother, Patrick McCoy and a brother-in-law Sal Colla.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial service will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Michael
Hanson. Inurnment of Pauline's remains will take place after the luncheon.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Friday, June 20, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.
The Lyndahl Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the Eichstaedt family with funeral arrangements.
In Lieu of flowers, Pauline requested that donations be made to Pilgrim Lutheran School to be used for items in the classroom.
The family would like to thank Woodside Senior Community for their care and most of all their love of Pauline. She really felt like it was home.
