Pauline McDonald Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 25, 2025.
Pauline "Polly" Virginia McDonald, born Pauline Virginia Smith on March 21, 1931, in Clear Brook, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. A devoted member of Greenwood United Methodist Church, she lived a life rooted in faith, family, and kindness.

Polly was known for her love of gardening, especially tending to her vegetables and fruits with care and joy. Her culinary talents were unmatched-her kitchen was a place of comfort, filled with the aroma of delicious meals and the warmth of her hospitality.

She was a loving mother to her son Raymond L. McDonald, Jr "Mack" and daughter Virginia Ann Martin "Susie", and a cherished "Mema" to her granddaughter Paula. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Jordan and Kendall Butler, who brought her endless pride and joy.

Pauline "Polly" was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond L. McDonald; her sisters, Anne Cook and Hazel Tinsman; and her cherished friend, Charles Hawse. She will also be deeply missed by her dear friend Bill Kisner, with whom she shared nightly phone calls that brought laughter and companionship. Her absolute adoration for her dog Missy was evident to all who knew her-Missy was her constant source of joy.

Though she is no longer with us, the memory of her gentle spirit and unwavering love will remain in our hearts forever. We find peace in knowing she is watching over us from above, reunited with those she loved, and embraced in the eternal light of heaven.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Greenwood United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 27 with visitation from 11 – 12pm and service at Noon, with a lunch to follow. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and share in honoring her beautiful life.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Greenwood United Methodist Church - Make a Donation.
