Pauline Meade, age 89, of Carbondale, IL, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 1:15 a.m. at Liberty Village Manor Court in Carbondale, IL.

She was born on October 11, 1935, in Supply, AR, to Homer and Eura (Wallace) Emmons.

She was united in marriage to Bob Gene Meade on December 10, 1964 in Freeburg, IL and together they shared forty-nine years of marriage until he preceded her in death on January 2, 2014.

Pauline, along with her husband, devoted their lives to being educators. She taught English over twenty-five years.

She enjoyed watching sports and especially was an avid St Louis Cardinals fan. She was an excellent homemaker and enjoyed gardening, growing vegetables as well as tending to her flowers and cooking. Pauline was of the Baptist faith and also enjoyed reading, writing poetry and children's books.

She is survived by her sister, Betty Burgess of Portageville, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters and five brothers.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL.

Per Pauline wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and no public service will be held at this time.

A graveside service will be held in Portageville, MO at a later date.
