Pauline Speinle Middleton, 82, of Newberry, widow of John Augustus Middleton, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023, at her home.
Born on December 30, 1940, in Neumunster, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Andreas and Anna Berger Speinle. She worked in civil service at the commissary at Fort Jackson Army Base. Mrs. Middleton was of the Catholic faith. She had a great passion for animal life and was actively involved with the Federal Widlife Organization, Alley Cat Allies and the Humane Society.
Mrs. Middleton is survived by a son, John Augustus Middleton, Jr. of Batesburg-Leesville; daughters, Leslie Rose (Michael L.) Miller of Gaston and LeeAnna (Mark Edward) Donkle of Newberry and eight grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Lorena Louise Hughes and all of her siblings.
Memorials may be made to the Newberry County Humane Society, PO Box 485, Newberry, SC 29108 or to Alley Cat Allies, PO Box 98179, Washington, DC 20077-8179.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 6. 2023, from 2:00 - 4:00 pm.
