Pauline Salamone

Pauline Salamone, of Fredericksburg, VA (formerly from Yonkers, NY), passed away peacefully on June 10, 2023 at the age of 94. She was born on November 28, 1928 to Stefano and Frances Leonardo from 3237 Tenbroeck Ave. Bronx, New York.
In her younger years she worked cleaning a house for $0.50 a week. She then attended Jane Adams High School in NYC. After graduating she got a job working at the American Bank Note manning the Foreign Money making machines. In later years she worked in Gimbels, Cross County Center Men's Department.
Pauline met Lou and married August 12, 1950 they were happily married until her husband passed in 2013. They had a loving marriage, did everything together and were always holding hands. She was a devoted wife and she became a baseball wife and spent her honeymoon sitting on a baseball bench in the dug out in Washington, D.C. for a playoff game. From that day forward she supported her husband and the Eastchester Baseball Club.
In 2017 Pauline moved to Chancellor Village and enjoyed activities such as bingo, crafts and gardening. She was very happy to be near family and loved Sunday Family Dinner. She made wonderful friends while living in VA. She was such a joy to be around and always happy and laughing. Family and friends were always so important. Pauline was such a caring and giving person and would help however she could. She would always be there in any way. She loved to bake the family Italian cookies and they would be there for every family occasion. Her cookies were loved by everyone. She also loved to cook Italian meals. Family and friends loved to attend the large gatherings she would host.
Pauline was a devoted Catholic and was very involved in her parish, St. John the Baptist in Yonkers, NY. Whenever she baked cakes, for the Bake Sale, there would be a line to get "Pauline's cake".
Pauline was an amazing wife, mother, nana, and great nana. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for her family. She traveled to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in many recitals and sports games for hockey, lacrosse, field hockey, and soccer - even flew to Chicago for a hockey tournament.
She leaves behind her sister, Angelina Romano. Her children Louis Salamone (fiancé, Trudy Zimmerman), Rosanne O'Neill (Tom), and Donna DeSimini (Bruce) along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and 5 brothers (Quincy, Paul, Sam, Joe, and Tony), she was preceded in passing by her husband Louis A. Salamone.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 11:30am at St. Anthony's Shrine Church, 36 West Nyack RD, Nanuet, NY 10954. Burial will follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, at the same address. Visitation will be held at Joseph W Sorce Funeral Home, 728 W Nyack Rd, West Nyack, NY 10994. Visitation hours will be Friday, June 16, 2023 from 2pm-4pm and in the evening from 7pm-9pm.
A Memorial Service will be held at Chancellor's Village, 12100 Chancellors Village Lane, Fredericksburg, VA 22407, on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 2pm in the Chancellor Room.
