Pauline L. Zajac, 85, of Factoryville, died Monday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. Her husband, the late Nicholas Zajac, died in 2018. They were married for over 55 years.
Born in Nicholson on Sept. 18, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Helen Onufry Polovitch. She graduated from Keystone and Bloomsburg University. Before retiring, she was a math teacher at Lackawanna Trail High School and substitute teacher. She was a devout member of St. Patrick's Church in Nicholson.
Pauline was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was very proud of being a teacher and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, canning and baking bread. She was a 4-H and Girl Scout leader; very hard worker always supporting and helping the family dairy farms. She was a faithful and devoted Catholic (daily Mass, rosaries and prayers). She loved sitting by her woodstove.
Surviving are two daughters, Lynn DeBoard and husband, John; and Michele Zajac and husband, Mark Jeffers; a son, William and wife, Valerie; four grandchildren, James DeBoard, Jason DeBoard, Jessica Zajac and Mason Zajac; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her grandson, John DeBoard Jr.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 205 Main St., Nicholson, to be celebrated by the Rev. Arbogaste Satoun. Interment will be held in St. Michael's Cemetery, Starkville.

My condolences to Pauline's family. She was a very sincere, hardworking woman. When I taught at Trail and Pauline substituted for me, I always knew that classes would go well.
