Paxton Clay Cooper, 7, of Brandon, MS went to be with Jesus on Thursday, October 24, 2024. He passed at the Blair E. Batson Tower of UMMC due to complications of the rapid onset of leukemia. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure. He is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.

Paxton was born on June 25, 2017 in Jackson, MS to Kelsey Dawn Cooper and Stewart Bradley Cooper. Due to the onset of HELLP Syndrome and Kelsey’s rapid declining health, Paxton entered this world by emergency c-section 13 weeks early and weighing in at 1 lb. 9oz. He spent 129 days in the NICU. He was born with underdeveloped lungs and spent years on oxygen, as well as attending regular appointments with pediatric pulmonary specialists and multiple at-home therapies.

Although the first years of his life were heavily monitored, Paxton was never aware of his limits and lived a wide-open and energetic life. His unyielding spirit and zest for life earned him the nickname, Pac-Man. He was a first grader at Rouse Elementary and loved school. Paxton’s favorite person is his baby brother, Camden. Paxton loved Hot Wheels and Superheroes, especially Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk. He was a social butterfly and loved other children. He was a fun, loving, and energetic child.

Paxton is preceded in death by his great grandparents: Sue and Jerold Montgomery, Ann Hardin Jackson, Ernest Clay Moore, Doris and W.L. Cooper, and cousin, Russell Montgomery.

Paxton is survived by his parents and brother, Bradley, Kelsey and Camden Cooper; his great grandparents, Patricia Moore, and Frankie and Rose Evans; his grandparents: David and Missy Jackson, Howard and Vicki Evans, and Gary and Rebecca Cooper; his aunts and uncles: Katelyn Comish (Clark), Brock Cooper (Amber), Clay Evans (Jessie), Carlee Evans, Michael Sierra (Jennifer), Ryan Sierra, Adam Woods (Erica), and great aunt, Susan Hale; cousins: Rowen and Rhett Comish, Morgan Sierra, and Wilder and Rush Woods; a host of great aunts and uncles, second and third cousins; and an endless number of extended family and friends.

Honorary pallbearers are: Camden Cooper, Rowen Comish, Rhett Comish, Wilder Woods, Rush Woods, Hunter Cooper, Myles Cooper, James Hanks, Eli Baldwyn, Beau Baldwyn, Karter Conley, Xavier Banks, Jon Michael Roberts, Easton Westerfield, Liam Patrick, Reed Pittman, Arlin Pittman, and Brandon Pittman.

Visitation will be Monday, October 28, 2024 from 9:30 am until 11:45 am with a funeral service following at 12:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at Crossgates Church in Brandon, MS. In order to honor Paxton's zestful spirit and to surround him with things he loves, the family requests that you bring a sticker or Hot Wheels to the visitation to place on his casket.
