Pearl Magdalene Phipps, 90, of Bramwell, WV, went home to be with the Lord Friday, June 25, 2021. Born October 27, 1930, she was one of thirteen children of the late George and Bertha Head Dillon. She loved God with her whole heart and served God faithfully as a member of the Bramwell Wesleyan Church. In addition to her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Bernard Lee Phipps, Sr.; son, Bernard Lee Phipps, Jr.; and eleven siblings, Alexander McKinley Dillon, Gordon VanBuren Dillon, Joseph Howard Dillon, Dewey Frank Dillon, George Elmer Dillon, Roger Lee Dillon, Thomas Allen Dillon, Nathaniel Webster Dillon, Grover Lewis Dillon, Ruby Virginia Dillon Hall Boggs, and infant sister, Margaret Dillon.
Those left to cherish Pearl's memory are her children, Joan and husband, Rev. Matthew Alford of Lynchburg, VA, Deborah and husband, Rev. Frank Carl III of Westerville, OH, Darlene and husband, Kester of Bramwell, WV, Terry Phipps of Westerville, OH, Clifton Phipps and wife, YO of NC, and Tammy and husband Les Slusher of Falls Mills, VA; cherished daughter-in-law, Suzanne Phipps; sister, Mary Bell Dillon Bowman Wiley; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Reverend Matthew Alford and Rev. Dr. Doug Hyndrich officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park where family and friends will service at pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
