Pearle McKenna
In loving memory of Pearle McKenna, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on June 10, 2024 and is already dearly missed by all who knew her.
Pearle was born on August 16, 1933, in North Bessemer, Pennsylvania to Matthew & Francis Vidmar. She met Edward John McKenna at a dance and they married on November 28, 1957. They lived in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia before finally settling in Taylor, Michigan to raise their family of three boys.
Over the years, they spent many hours in the car going back and forth between Pittsburgh and Taylor, maintaining ties with family and friends, enjoying holidays, graduations, weddings, and special events. She was a devoted mother to her sons who she raised with compassion, respect, and endless patience. In retirement, she and Ed moved to Novi for a short spell and then lived for 18 years on a small lake in New Hudson, Michigan. Sundays were spent with their grandchildren boating on the water, enjoying her delicious meals, playing games, and telling stories around a table filled with laughter. Her adventurous spirit sent her traveling often, cruising and visiting Machu Picchu, Egypt, Italy, China and attending the 50th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy, France.
Pearle had a curiosity about the world, people, and all aspects of life which encouraged her strong appetite for learning and reading. She was dedicated to her family above all else. Everyone who met her was greeted by her beautiful smile and warm, loving heart. She possessed a quiet confidence, and her grace, kindness, strong empathy and sense of humor made her a joy to be around. She loved jokes and could also laugh at herself, which put others at ease. Her grandkids would say she was a present listener who would engage in intentional conversations about their lives, and they strive to "be like Grandma".
She is deeply missed by so many. She leaves behind her husband of 67 years, Edward, and her sons Ed (Alison), Joseph (Debi), and Lee (Lisa). She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren: Heather, Matt, Kelsey, Myles, Melanie, and Jillian, and 2 great grandchildren: Kendall and Briar. She was preceded in death by her siblings Paul, Virginia, Calvin, June, Ruth, Henry and Lester.
A celebration of her life will take place at a future date. In honor of this amazing woman, please take time to enjoy sunsets, and share laughter and love with those around you. Be present, kind, playful and friendly!
