Pedro "Pete" Belegal

Pedro Belegal Obituary Pedro "Pete" Belegal, 86 of Valparaiso, IN. passed away peacefully at his home on November 5th, 2024. He is preceded in death by his wife Porfiria (Brucal) Belegal, as well as siblings; Celing, Kiko, Poling, and Bartolome. Pedro was born in Batangas, Philippines on March 6th, 1938 to parents Lino Belegal and Gavina (Magbuhat) Belegal. Pedro paid his own way through college at Lucome University in the Philippines, working during the day and taking night classes to receive his degree in Liberal Arts. Following college, he spent two years serving in the Philippine Navy while his wife worked in the United States as a teacher, she then returned to the Philippines and was married to Pedro. After her return to teaching in the United States, Pedro followed a few months later and started his first job as a cook for a hotel in Valparaiso, IN.
1-2 years later, Pedro applied to McGills where he was employed as a machinist for 27 years producing electrical parts and working the punch presses. He then worked for the NICTD railroad station for 15 years.
Pedro was a hunting enthusiast, with a passion for collecting guns and tending to his garden. He is survived by his adored children Phil Belegal of Valparaiso, IN, Portia (John) Gelormino of Ronkonkoma, NY and Priscilla (Benjamin) Mauch of Manassas, VA. Pedro is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Preston, Jade, Peytan, Isabella, Johnny, Liam, Luke, and Mirabelle.
A visitation will be held at Bartholomew Funeral home on Sunday, November 10th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A visitation will also be held at St. Paul Catholic Church on Monday, November 11, 2024, from 9:00 A.M.- 10:00 A.M., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Roque Meraz officiating. Burial will take place at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery immediately following Mass. Bartholomew Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
