Pedro Jose Castro Colon, born on October 31, 1976, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, left this world unexpectedly on August 3, 2025, in Orlando, Florida. He is remembered not only as a talented chef but also as a devoted father and cherished family member.
Throughout his distinguished career, Pedro worked passionately for renowned establishments including Golden Corral and Shell's Restaurant, where he showcased his culinary skills. His specialties in steak, pasta, and especially seafood made every meal a memorable experience. Pedro had a unique ability to transform any environment into his kitchen, captivating those who tasted his creations.
A proud graduate of Colonial High School, class of 1995, Pedro carried with him a rich culture and heritage that he cherished deeply. He took immense pride in being Puerto Rican and was especially proud of his children, whom he encouraged to embrace their identity.
Beyond his culinary talents, he was known for his vibrant personality. Friends and family fondly remember him as a funny jokester, always ready to make others laugh. His stubbornness was matched only by his selflessness—he would often give you the shirt off his back and was known as a "hustler" in his pursuit of success for his loved ones.
Pedro's love for his family was evident in the evenings spent taking his kids, Naomi and Nicholas, to the movies, enjoying their favorite snacks while watching films like the Lord of the Rings series and various anime adventures. His interests extended beyond family time; he loved playing the lotto, watching football, and was rarely seen without music playing in the background. Walking and talking with the people he met was among his favorite pastimes, reflecting his engaging nature and the connections he formed throughout his life.
Pedro leaves behind a loving family, including his mother, Rosa Colon; his daughter, Naomi Castro; his son, Nicholas Castro; his brother, Jose Castro; his sister, Roxanna Castro; his niece, Yanien DeLeon Castro; his nephew, Dylan DeLeon Castro; and the family dog, Panda. He was preceded in death by his father, Pedro Castro Santiago.
As we remember Pedro Jose Castro Colon, we celebrate a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to family and friends. His legacy will be carried on through the cherished memories and profound impact he had on those who were fortunate enough to know him.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 12:00 pm at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
