Catherine Diane Keefer, a cherished wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away suddenly on September 9, 2025, in Oviedo, Florida, at the age of 57. Born on August 30, 1968, in Lakeland, Florida, Catherine was known for her warm spirit, kindness, and unwavering dedication to both her family and her profession.
Catherine devoted an impressive 36 years to Orlando Health at Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she touched the lives of many as a compassionate caregiver. She was well-respected among her colleagues, often referred to as the “work mom,” a title that speaks volumes about her nurturing nature and the admiration others held for her.
Beyond her professional life, Catherine was a beloved family member who cherished her time with her loved ones. Saturdays were reserved for memorable family outings that often included trips to Blockbuster for candy and cozy movie marathons at home. Together with her husband, Robert, she relished the adventure of traveling. Whether it was road trips across the country, enjoying cruises, or embracing the joys of glamping, she found happiness wherever the journey took her.
Catherine earned her high school diploma from Colonial High School in the Class of 1986, later pursuing her passion for nursing by obtaining an Associate's Degree in Nursing from Valencia College. This educational journey not only equipped her with the essential skills to excel in her career but also solidified her calling as a caregiver—a role she embraced wholeheartedly.
At the center of Catherine’s life were her family and beloved dogs. She was immensely proud of her children, and she cherished the moments spent with her grandson, Malachi. Catherine is survived by her devoted husband, Robert Keefer; her daughter, Mary Keefer; her son, Mitchell Keefer and his wife, Sarah; her sister, Ruth Veninga and her husband, Robert; and her grandson, Malachi Keefer.
Catherine is preceded in death by her father, Chester Allen Lewis; her mother, Roberta Ellen (Brainard) Lewis; and her son, Matthew Alan Keefer. She will be remembered not only for her professional excellence but also for the profound love and kindness she shared with everyone around her. Her legacy of compassion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
