89, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, formerly of La Vega, Dominican Republic, lost his battle with stomach and liver cancer. On Friday, July 18, 2025 at 8:48 p.m. Pedro passed away peacefully while surrounded by loved ones while listening to his favorite Psalm 91 to the very end, when he took his last breath and joined the Lord.
A master tailor of fine men’s clothing, Pedro worked with pride and precision, including many years at Brooks Brothers. He was President of the Latin Lions Lawrence Chapter and a dedicated member of his Catholic parish, serving in the church choir, band, and as an usher.
Pedro was a gentle soul—kind-hearted, generous, and deeply spiritual. As a child, he found joy in crafting and flying kites, a reflection of his imagination and light-hearted spirit. Despite being diagnosed with a life-threatening condition in his teens and given little chance of living beyond 23, Pedro lived a full life rich in family, community, and faith.
He is survived by his daughter Rosemarie Simons and her fiancé Miguel Lopez; son William Simons; and beloved grandchildren Reign Sienna Malary and Jahz MeKaél Malary. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and extended family: Lisa Ester Vargas, Leslie Joan Vargas Urbina, Erika Vargas, Tabitha Vargas Compadre, Comadre, Santiago Gervacio, Marina Vargas, and Rosy Ray Goris.
Pedro will be remembered for his warmth, his faith, and his quiet resilience. He was loved deeply and will be missed dearly.
