Peggy Ann (Foye) Brooks, beloved wife of Taylor Preston Brooks, Jr, died Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital
Sumter, SC.
Peggy was born June 2, 1941, in Smithfield, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Raymond (NMN) Foye and the late Harriet Lorene (Moody) Lewis. Peggy was a devout Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Peggy served in the USAF at Maxwell AFB, Alabama, and Lindsey Air Station, Wiesbaden, Germany. Peggy retired with 20 years of civilian service with the Department of Defense. She was a member of Crosspoint Baptist Church and the Ladies' Friendship Class. She was also a member of the Sumter County Gallery of Art, in
Sumter, South Carolina.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Taylor, of 63 years. They were married: October 23, 1962, when they were stationed together at Maxwell AFB, Montgomery, Alabama: one son, Todd Randall Brooks of
Sumter, SC; one daughter, Tonya Renee (Brooks) Chapa (Michael Joseph) of Prosper, TX; 10 grandchildren: Dylan Robert Brooks, Jack Andrew Chapa (Sarah Rachelle), Peter Lewis Chapa (Lenna Marie), Reed Cooper Chapa, Peyton LeeAnn (Chapa) Sargent (Danny), Emma Mae Chapa, Faith Antonina Chapa; Ke'Iolani "Lani" Brooks; also Mariah (Ward) Beltran, & Nicholas Smith; five great-grandchildren: Hudson Andrew Chapa, Ryder Jackson Chapa, Daniella Marie Chapa, Audrey Elizabeth Chapa, and Elaina Grace Chapa; three half-sisters: Alverda Krofcheck, Della Wisser (Al), and Peggy Louise Foye, all of Pennsylvania; one sister-in-law Linda Marie Foye of Laguna Woods, CA; numerous nieces and nephews.
Peggy was preceded in death by her first-born son, Taylor Preston Brooks, III, on August 20, 2016 (Age 52); one brother, Raymond Dewaine Foye.
Graveside service will be held at 10 A.M. Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery with Rev. Tim Simpson officiating and military honors.
