Loving Memory of
Margaret Ann (Barrett) Hill “Peggy”
1932 - 2025
Margaret Ann (Barrett) Hill, “Peggy”, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025, following a massive stroke. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Margaret Barrett and her loving husband of 68 years, Gene A. Hill. Peggy is survived by her three children, Debbie Gooden (Ed), Jeff Hill (Lynn), Robyn Miller (Blaine), 8 grandchildren - Tressa Speight (Justin), Lerin Hukill (Brandon), JD Hill (Britani), Kristen Milligan (Adam), Austin Hill (Annie), Brad Miller (Carrie), Ryan Miller (Crystal), and Brittany Partin (Phil) and 16, soon to be 18 great-grandchildren.
Peggy was born in Steubenville, Ohio and raised in Akron, Ohio. She attended West High School where in ninth grade she met and later married the love of her life, Gene Hill. Peggy poured her life into her husband and the full-time job of raising their three children. Peggy was a devoted and loving wife, and she prided herself on being the most dedicated and present Mom to her children. Throughout the years, Peggy worked various part-time jobs, but her full-time career was her children. She was a beautiful homemaker, making the family home lovely, inviting and warm. She loved to decorate for every season and holiday and her home was a showcase she was so proud of. She was a wonderful cook and just the epitome of a “homemaker”. Unlike her gregarious husband, Peggy was shy, quiet and demure; until she got to know you, then she could talk your leg off!
Peggy had a beautiful soprano singing voice and often sang solos at church and sang at many weddings. She was also part of a trio with her 2 sisters-in-law, Faye Hill and Marilyn Hill Mays and later years with Marilyn Hill Mays and Colleen Nofsinger. She was always part of the choir at Calvary Baptist Church and shared many loving memories with her choir and church friends.
Peggy’s favorite word was “perfection”, and this was evident by her lovely appearance. Until the day of her passing, Peggy had her hair styled, nails polished, make-up on and was wheeled into Hospice wearing jewelry on both wrists, necklaces and rings. Her jewelry remained on her until the end.
Peggy will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, family and friends, as well as her friends and the staff at The Inn at CoalRidge, especially her special friend Helen Lizak.
The family would like to thank her place of residence The Inn at CoalRidge, The Wadsworth Fire and Paramedics, the physicians and staff at Summa Emergency and Summa Hospice where Peggy peacefully passed.
A private family service has taken place, and Peggy has been laid to rest, with her husband, at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
