Peggy Holwerda

Peggy Holwerda, 75, of Lubbock, TX left this life to be with Jesus on March 31, 2024, Easter Sunday. She was born October 1, 1948, to Alvin and Betty Bumgardner in Los Angeles, CA. She married Bob Holwerda on May 22, 1971, in Pasadena, California, and spent the next 40 years of her life faithfully by his side.
Peggy graduated from UCLA before beginning her accomplished career as an educator, impacting the lives of thousands of students and families. She was instrumental in developing the transitional first grade program at Trinity Christian Schools, in Lubbock, TX. Outside of work, Peggy was passionate about her family and friends, Bible Study Fellowship, her church family, and volunteering, and loved to travel and experience the world. She filled every room with joy and laughter and was the life of every party. She modeled what it looks like to love unselfishly, consistently demonstrating generosity and intentionality.
Peggy is survived by her son Mark Holwerda, daughter Kristen Lewis and husband Mike with their children, Carter and Evyn, and son Danny Holwerda and wife Courtney, with their children Blake, Ava, and Jack. She is preceded in death by her husband Bob Holwerda, son Timothy Holwerda, parents Alvin and Betty Bumgardner, her brother Richard Bumgardner, and her beloved sister Sylvia Bumgardner.
