Peggy Jane (Pound) Jones, affectionately known as "Nano," departed this life on August 31, 2025. Born July 21, 1949, in Lamar, Missouri, Peggy was the cherished daughter of Flossie Mae and Oscar Ira Pound. Peggy attended Montrose, a one-room country school known as Scratch Gravel, where she and her siblings made up five of the twenty students in attendance. The family later moved to Bethany, Oklahoma, where Peggy graduated from Bethany High School in 1967.

Peggy met her future husband, David Jones, in March, 1975 at choir practice at Calvary Church of the Nazarene. Their first meeting was memorable: hoping to strike up a conversation, Peggy and a friend asked David for a ride in his new four-wheel drive Bronco. Instead, David handed her the keys and returned to his card game, leaving Peggy amused. They crossed paths again at a New Year's Eve service, and soon after, their relationship flourished. The couple got engaged on January 30, 1976. Peggy often said, "We both found who we had been looking for and didn't want to wait."

After earning her degree from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1977, Peggy and David began their first ministry in Wewoka, Oklahoma. For the next fifteen years, they served churches throughout Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Florida, and Tennessee, nurturing congregations and fostering growth wherever they went. Alongside her ministry, Peggy built an impressive nursing career that spanned more than forty years, including time as a travel nurse and leadership roles in nearly every hospital department.

Her travels for work ignited a lifelong passion for exploration, which she pursued with family, friends, her OBU alumni group, and her church singles group. Particularly dear were the adventures she shared with her Aunt Mary, whom she regarded as a sister. Even recently, Peggy was busy planning new journeys to Glacier National Park, Egypt with OBU alumni, and an Alaskan cruise with her beloved granddaughters.

Peggy's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, staying actively involved in their lives and celebrating milestones with pride. Her love for her four children, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren was evident to all, as she delighted in bragging about their achievements to all who would listen. Peggy was deeply rooted in her faith, dedicating herself to service within her church and the wider community. Her warmth, generosity, and cheerful spirit touched many, earning her lasting friendships across all walks of life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents; brother, Tom Pound; and sister, Polly Benn.

Peggy leaves behind her brothers, Ira (Ruthanne), Jack (Linda), Moris (Loretta), and Jerry (Kathy); brother-in-law, Paul; children, Patrick (Jamie), Scott (Jennifer), J.J., and Jay (Shannon); grandchildren, Rachel, Brandon, Alyssa, Isabelle, Taylor, Harper, Steven (Isabel), and Mary; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Presley; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, each of whom she deeply cherished.

A memorial service to honor Peggy's life will be held Monday, September 8, at 1:00 p.m., at Calvary Church of the Nazarene in Bethany, Oklahoma.
