Peggy L. Liebelt, 70, of Oostburg, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee.
Peggy was born on November 11, 1953, to Wesley and Arline (Schruers) VanDriest in Sheboygan. She graduated from South High School in 1972.
Peggy was united in marriage on May 21, 1983, to Richard “Rick” Liebelt on the beach near the VanDriest family cottage.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Oostburg. Peggy enjoyed being with her family the most. She loved teaching Sunday school at First Presbyterian Church for 40+ years, also playing volleyball with the Oostburg women’s league for 40 years. Peggy loved horses, wolves, and all animals. She especially loved horseback riding and was a member of the Double K Riding club, as well as owning her own horses. Peggy loved the beach and the outdoors. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Peggy was so loving and caring and is the reason her family is the same.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 40 years, Rick; children, Erica (Matt) Lammers, Jessica Strait, Nathaniel Strait, Nicole Liebelt, Noah Liebelt; grandchildren: Farron (David) Woznicki, Elijiah Lammers, Mia Boyd, Avery (Chris) Lechner and Penelope Kuhlow, Tavyean Willis, Andreas Lee, Leonidas Lee; great grandchildren, Jamie Woznicki, Valerian and Amiria Lechner; siblings, Bette Wick, Connie Benson, William (Tina) VanDriest; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandchild, Tobin Willis; and sister, Patricia VanDriest.
A funeral service to celebrate Peggy’s life will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Oostburg on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 11:00am. She will be laid to rest at Oostburg Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Thursday, April 25, from 4:00 until 7:00 and again on Friday at church from 10:00 until the time of service.
Memorials are appreciated in Peggy’s name.
