Peggy Ann Pleasants McAden, age 96, a resident of Brodnax, VA, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025.
Born and raised in Cartersville, VA, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Ollie Pearl Pleasants. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Hugh McAden, Jr., a son, James Hugh “Mac” McAden III; a brother, Hugh Berkley Pleasants, Jr. and wife, Sallie Mae, a sister, Charlotte Pleasants Urbine, as well as her beloved in-laws, Eleanor and Lewis Moody, Nancy Ware and Earl Bracey, Wilburn Batterson, and Lloyd Martin, Jr.
Peggy lived most of her life in Brodnax, VA, but her hometown of Cartersville always held a special place in her heart. She graduated from Hamilton High School and attended Madison College. After college she moved and became a true farmer’s wife on the family dairy farm. She was a long-time active member of Bethany Church.
For many years her home was open to friends and family members who came to visit on the McAden family farm. Peggy enjoyed taking trips to the lake and the peace and tranquility she found there. Even to her last days, Peggy enjoyed keeping up with her family and friends. She will be remembered most as a devoted wife, and a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Deborah McAden Tuck and husband, Herbert, and Chris McAden and wife, Jean; grandchildren, J.H. McAden IV( Rhonda Crafton), Ashley McAden, Camm McAden and wife, Blair, Kirk McAden and wife, Kathryn, Courtney Tuck Randolph and husband, John, Clarke McAden and wife, Katie, Kari Tuck Hare and husband, Brian, and Jacklyn McAden Clinedinst and husband, Stuart; great-grandchildren, Kasie and husband Johnathan Iraggi, James McAden, Hunter McAden, Mac McAden, Brianna Smith, Bo Randolph, Cora Randolph, Brooks Hare, Hayes Hare, Jake McAden, Reagan McAden, Peyton McAden, Maddison McAden, Hayden Lawson, Jalyn McAden, Caiden McAden, Clay Clinedinst, and Leanor Grace Clinedinst; siblings, Judy Batterson, Edith Martin, and James “Spanky” Pleasants and wife, June; brother-in-law, Bobby McAden and wife, Shelby, and brother in law Chuck Urbine as well as a large extended family.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Pine View Assisted Living in South Hill for their wonderful support and dedication for the last three years. Special thanks also, for the kind and attentive sitters needed for her last few weeks and to Amedisys Hospice of Blackstone for the prompt, professional care for the last week of her life.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Williams Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, VA, followed by interment at Bethany Church Cemetery in Brodnax, VA. A time of visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bethany Church Cemetery Fund, 3847 Governor Harrison Parkway, Brodnax, VA 23920.
