William Hugh “W.H.” McAden, of Randleman, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 31, 2026. He was born May 9, 1959 in Randolph County, NC to Winfred Samuel McAden and Winnie York McAden.
W.H. was a beloved family man with many talents, hobbies, and passions. As a hobby he enjoyed playing basketball with his friends until age 59. He was a huge UNC Tarheel fan, Green Bay Packers fan, and loved to watch professional wrestling. W.H. was mechanically adept at repairing almost all small engines. He was a licensed and certified Briggs & Stratton mechanic and never turned away those in need of help. In 1997, he opened his own lawncare and landscape business that was very successful due to his own way of maintaining yards with perfection. W.H. loved his cats – especially Misty. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
W.H. is survived by his loving wife of 28.5 years, Gail McAden of the home; daughter, Dana Poindexter (Stephen); son, Joseph Cross (Ashley); grandchildren, Alex Poindexter, Jackson Poindexter, Blake Cross; sister, Betty Staley; brothers, Jimmy McAden (Sharon) and Roy McAden. He is preceded in death by his parents, Winfred and Winnie McAden; brother, Sammy McAden; nephew, Sammy Staley.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:50 PM on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 S. Main St., Randleman. Funeral services will start at 2:00 PM in the Eddie Pugh Memorial Chapel with Joe Goins officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM at Providence Friends Meeting Cemetery, 2054 Providence Church Rd, Pleasant Garden, NC.
