Peggy McLaughlin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery on Mar. 11, 2026.
Peggy Taylor McLaughlin went to be with the Lord on March 8, 2026. She was born January 9, 1938 in Attala County, MS to James and Eunice Kyle. She was a graduate of Memphis State University and was a true blue fan of the Memphis Tigers. She taught in the Memphis City Schools for almost 30 years. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa sorority for many years. She and her husband, the late Bill Taylor, delighted in raising three sons. She was a dedicated prayer warrior for her sons and their families. She loved attending Central Church where she served in several capacities. She used her understanding nature to comfort the grieving as she served with the Comfort Circle there for many years. Her favorite Bible verse was Ephesians 2:8-9. 8-For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. She enjoyed recognizing special occasions with her family and friends. She shared her home with love and hospitality. She especially enjoyed Christmas family gatherings. She was married to her faithful friend, Don McLaughlin, for thirty-one years. She is preceded in death by her first husband of thirty-two years, Bill Taylor, and her parents, James and Eunice Kyle, as well as her second husband, Don McLaughlin. She is survived by her sons, Steve Taylor (Jeane) of Memphis, Tim Taylor (Karissa) of DeLand FL, and Todd Taylor (Lisa) of Moscow TN, eight grandchildren-Chris Taylor (Whitney), Jared Taylor, Brandon Taylor, Grace Rios (Louie), Kelsey Pettus (Jamie), Anna Wilhaucks (Matthew), Sarah Taylor, and Rachel Taylor. She is also survived by her siblings: her brother James Kyle (Anne), and sister Diane Sprayberry (Kenneth), Gloria Hopkins (Ronnie), and Tammy Brown (Nick), and six great-grandchildren: Ty Taylor, Jordyn Taylor, Hadley Taylor, Kinsley Pettus, Grayson Pettus, and Lainey Wilhaucks. She leaves behind many lifelong friends.

Funeral service will be Saturday, March 14 at Central Church with visitation from 10-11:30 am and the funeral service at 11:30. There will be a brief graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery following the service as well. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
