Peggy Ann Morgan, 75, born on April 24, 1950, in Gainesboro, TN, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Hendersonville Medical Center. A devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, Peggy will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Peggy dedicated over thirty years of her life to the Sumner County Board of Education, touching countless lives as an English teacher and librarian. Her passion for education led her to become an archivist within the school system, where she meticulously preserved the history and stories that shaped generations. Her influence as an educator and her love for learning inspired many of her students to pursue their own dreams.
Her educational journey was a testament to her commitment to personal growth. After graduating from Jackson County High School in the class of '68, Peggy attended Tennessee Tech University, earning her bachelor's degree in education. She later furthered her education at Trevecca Nazarene University, reflecting her lifelong love of knowledge and commitment to her profession.
Peggy was not just a remarkable teacher but a cherished member of the Hendersonville Church of Christ, where her faith guided her actions and bolstered her spirit. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—whether it was spending time with her husband Ralph Edward Morgan, nurturing their beautiful flowers, particularly buttercups and irises, or embarking on treasure hunts at estate sales and Costco with her sister, Barbara Jean. Her love for genealogy reflected her deep appreciation for family history, connecting her to her roots in a profound way.
In addition to her husband, Ralph Edward Morgan, Peggy is survived by her son, Jonathan Edward Morgan, and her sister, Barbara Jean (Thomas) Weilbacher, both residing in Hendersonville, TN. She also leaves behind her beloved Aunt and Uncle, Ray and Bunie Stafford from Gainesboro, TN. These living family members will carry forward her legacy of love, education, and unwavering faith.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Garner C. Flatt and Emma Ann Meadows Flatt, as well as her paternal grandparents, Johnie and Lillie Jane Meadows, and maternal grandparents, James Harvey and Lura Flatt. Their memories will forever live on through the fond stories and lessons she shared with her family.
Visitation services will be held at the Hendersonville Memory Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, September 29, 2025. Further visitations will occur at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home from Tuesday, September 30 at 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday, October 1 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, leading into her funeral service which will take place on the same day at 1:00 PM with Bro. Edward Anderson will officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery in the Flynn's Lick Community of Jackson County.
Peggy Ann Morgan's passing leaves a void that can never be filled. Yet, her legacy of love, faith, and education will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. As we celebrate her life, we remember her warm smile, gentle spirit, and lasting impact on everyone around her. She truly was a beacon of light, shining brightly in the hearts of her family and friends.
