Peggy Nell McNeil Pope went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the age of 83 in Tomball, Texas surrounded by her daughters. She was born on April 1, 1942, to Mark Elray and Jewel Trythene McNeil in Houston, Texas.

Peggy grew up in Pasadena, Texas and graduated from Pasadena High School. She attended Sam Houston State University before working for Hartford Insurance.

Peggy married the love of her life, Larry Debbs Pope, on June 14, 1963. They lived in California for 11 years where she worked as a typist for Secretarial Services. She would often come home and discuss the screenplays she typed for Hollywood stars. The Popes returned to Texas in 1982 to be closer to family. They lived in both The Woodlands and Lago Vista, Texas where they were active members of Sawdust Road Baptist Church, First Baptist Jonestown, and Grace Fellowship Church of Lago Vista.

Peggy was a devoted wife and mother who loved her husband of nearly 49 years, her three daughters, her sons-in-law, and her eight grandchildren. She often joked she didn’t know what to do with the 6 grandsons as she only knew how to raise girls. Peggy enjoyed her Church Ladies Night Out dinners, shopping, feeding the deer, and anything related to cats and hats. She was known for her sense of style and independence. She was a Godly wife and mother whose beauty was on the inside as well as the outside.

Peggy is survived by her daughter Debbie Lindsey of Kirkland, Washington; daughter Heather Buzek and husband Glen of Tomball, Texas; daughter Pamela Duff and husband Clayton of Midlothian, Texas and grandchildren Walker and Noah Lindsey, Alyssa Geisse and husband Ryan, Mitchell and Brandon Buzek, Carson, Connor, and Emma Duff. She is preceded in death by her husband Larry Pope, parents, brother Carvel McNeil, and nephew Carvel “Corky” McNeil, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 8th from 10:00-11:30 am with funeral services celebrating Peggy’s life at 11:30 am in the Integrity Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. 8601 Almeda Genoa Rd. Houston, TX 77075.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Peggy’s name to Grace Fellowship Church of Lago Vista for the purchase of Outreach Ministry Bibles. 19615 Boggy Ford Road, Lago Vista, TX 78645
