Peggy Schwarz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by YANDA & SON FUNERAL HOME - YUKON on Nov. 8, 2024.
Peggy Lee Langford Schwarz, age 73, of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024. She was born on August 9, 1951, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Jesse and Patti Langford. Peggy's life was marked by a strong love for family, nature, and community.
After graduating from Putnam City High School in 1969, Peggy went on to pursue a degree in horticulture at Oklahoma State University, where she thrived academically and found her lifelong passion for plants and gardening. Her career path was diverse, as she first sold RVs and worked in the oilfield business before meeting Mark Schwarz. In the 1980s, Peggy and Mark relocated to Yukon, where they married on December 5, 1987, and built a life together filled with love.
Peggy was an active member of the Yukon community, a devoted member of St. John's Church, and a member of the Elk's Lodge. She was a generous and giving spirit, always contributing to causes she cared deeply about, including the Shriners Hospital, Neonatal Unit, and Mobile Meals.
Her passion for horticulture extended to her beloved garden and flower beds, where she delighted in growing vegetables and sharing the fruits of her labor with family and friends. Peggy had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and could often be found fishing, sailing, enjoying power squadron, or simply enjoying the beauty of nature. She was also a proud and enthusiastic OSU fan, never missing a chance to wear her orange and cheer on her team.
In addition to her love of nature, Peggy had an eye for antiques and operated her own antiques store in Yukon. She loved collecting and sharing her treasures with others, always with a warm smile and a story to tell. Peggy had a remarkable gift for making people laugh and never met a stranger, always leaving a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Patti Langford, and her sister Barbara Langford Fox. She is survived by her loving husband Mark Schwarz; son Jimmy Nichols and wife Belinda; daughter Kelley Gray and husband Jim; sister Jeani Pirooz; brothers Jesse Jr. Langford and wife Jennifer, Patrick Langford and wife Candee, William Langford and wife Vicki; grandchildren Tryston Nichols and Carie Hoover and husband Blake; great-grandchildren Adalyn Nichols and Milly Hoover; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will cherish her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. John Nepomuk Catholic School in Yukon, OK, in honor of Peggy's lifelong commitment to helping others. Peggy's vibrant spirit and love for life will be missed by all who knew her.
Viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, followed by a Wake service at 6:30 p.m., at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 14, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, Yukon, with interment to be held at a later date.

I met Peggy when we came to visit my sister Kay . She greeted us with a big hug and said "I have heard so much about you and I promised Kay I would behave myself while you are here"! She showed us her garden and flowers and sent home with us a box full of veggies! Peggy will truly be missed by many. She was such a good friend to Kay and I will always be grateful!
