PEGGY LYNN (ADAMS) STROUT WESTBROOK – Peggy Lynn (Adams) Strout, 72, passed away on December 14, 2025, at her home. She was born in Waterville, Maine on December 31,1952 to Ellen A. Durkee and Donald Adams. She was educated in Portland schools, graduating from Portland High School. She furthered her education at the University of Southern Maine, before pursuing her passion for hairstyling at Cosmetology school, where she earned her certificate.
Peggy spent many years at Giobbi’s restaurant in downtown Portland as a server and bartender, where she formed lasting friendships and met her late husband, Clifford B. Strout. After their marriage, Peggy continued to build a fulfilling career as a hairstylist. In 1995, she relocated to Panama City, Florida, where she worked at the Hawks Nest Grille and Spirits before returning to Maine in 2013.
Peggy is survived by her three sons Thomas Morton Jr. and his wife Roberta Morton of Limington; Jon Morton of Alfred; Brian Morton of Buxton, stepson David Stait and fiancé’ Bobbie Metcalf of Portland; 11 Grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
Her brother Randall Adams and wife Pamela of Portland; Steven Durkee and his wife Anna. Her sister Pam Donaldson.
She was predeceased by her husband Clifford B. Strout, her father Donald Adams, her mother Ellen Durkee, her brother Donald Adams, Jr., and her two sisters Sylvia White and Elizabeth White.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in honor of Peggy Strout to the Westbrook Food Pantry, 426 Bridge Street, Westbrook, ME 04092.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, allowing friends and family to gather and honor her memory.
