Peggy Ann Tedford Peal Clarksdale, MS
Peggy Tedford Peal, 86, died peacefully at her home in Clarksdale, Mississippi on Thursday, February 27, 2025. Visitation is Monday, March 3, 2025, 1:00pm - 2:00pm at Clarksdale Methodist Church in Clarksdale, MS. Funeral services are 2:00pm Monday, March 3, 2025, at Clarksdale Methodist Church in Clarksdale. She will be laid to rest by her husband at Lambert Cemetery following the services. Meredith Nowell Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Peggy was born in Quitman County, Mississippi in 1938 and left a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. She was the daughter of Burrell Oliver Tedford and Callie Littrell Tedford of Clarksdale. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, William Milton Peal, her parents, and her two brothers, Gerald Wayne Tedford and James Author (Sammy) Tedford.
Peggy's childhood was filled with the simple joys of farm life, family gatherings, and deep-rooted traditions. From Possum Bayou to Crowder Bottom, her early years were shaped by her faith and the strong bonds of her extended family, instilling in her a love for storytelling, music, and the values of hard work. Her family included numerous uncles, aunts, double first cousins, and all other cousins. She always said she felt blessed to be part of such a close family.
Peggy later married William "Bill" Peal, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, and dancing. They raised their children in Oxford, Mississippi, where Peggy devoted herself to her family and worked for Champion International. Her passion for literature and storytelling remained constant throughout her life, and she spent her later years entertaining her children and grandchildren with memories of family and experiences. After her husband's death, Peggy moved from Mississippi to Montana, where she lived for several years and enjoyed the beauty of the landscape. Although she cherished her time in Montana, she returned to her beloved Delta in 2010. She leaves behind lasting memories, a loving family, and a legacy of kindness that will be always treasured.
Peggy, better known to her family as Pie Peg, is survived by her three children: William Duncan Peal (Shelia Peal), Linda Peal, and Diane Peal Marsh (Scott Marsh). Peggy's grandchildren are Neil Ware White IV (Rachel), William Joshua Peal (Ashlynn), Mary Margaret Kinrose White, Callie Rae Marsh, Justin Alexander Peal, William Scott Marsh Jr., and Emily Nelligan Herbst. She has three precious great-grandchildren: Harriet Leonora White, Sloann Belew Peal, and Bernard William Morris White. Peggy also leaves behind a nephew, Gerald Paul Tedford (Kim) and a niece, Toni Gail Anderson (Sam).
The Peal family would like to thank many earthly angels including Erica Holly and the staff at Flowers' Manor, as well as Doris Leflore and Candice Jackson for their tender and dutiful care of Pie Peg.
