Peggy Poland Truxell

Peggy Poland Truxell, 90, of Harriman, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025 at Life Care Center of Blount County, surrounded by her loving daughters. She was born on April 24, 1934 in Harriman, Tennessee.
Peggy graduated from South Harriman High School and Knoxville School of Business. She worked at Roane Hosiery Mill, Harriman Paper Board, and Great Lakes Carbon, whilst raising her family. Upon moving to Greeneville, TN, she worked at Takoma Adventist Hospital for several years.
Peggy was an excellent seamstress, making everything from custom made draperies, prom dresses, a beautiful wedding dress, bridesmaids' dresses and even clothing for her children's Barbies. She also hand quilted many treasures. Peggy loved to travel and garden and was an active fifty-year member of The Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She was a self-proclaimed gym rat for many years.
Peggy was a life-long member of South Harriman Baptist Church. She was a devout follower of Jesus Christ.
Peggy is survived by her children, Stephanie Dolsen (Terry Gilliam), Lori Thompson (Jeff), Amanda Futrell (Roger); her step-son Geary Truxell (Connie), her grandchildren, Gena Taylor (Greg), Kristy Manahan (Jacob), Christopher Futrell, Bret Dolsen, Andrew Futrell, and Charlotte Thompson; her great grandchildren, Clayton Truxell, Katherine Manahan, Everrett Manahan, and Calista Manahan; and her sister, Vickie Jenkins (Cecil), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Peggy is predeceased by her parents, Roscoe and Ruby Poland, her husband, Clayton Ira Truxell; her siblings, Arlan Poland (Lucille), and Wanda Lowery (Leon), and her brother-in-law Cecil Jenkins.
Receiving friends will begin at 5:00 pm on Friday, April 04, 2025 at Kyker Funeral Home in Harriman. Funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm. Graveside service will be held the following day, Saturday, April 05, 2025 at 11:00 am at Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood.
