Peggy Juanez Whittenberg

Funeral services for Peggy Juanez Whittenberg, 90, of Palestine, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Carroll Springs Community Church with Dr. Matt Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at County Line Cemetery under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Mrs. Whittenberg passed away on November 19, 2025, in Palestine.

Peggy Juanez Whittenberg was born on September 25, 1935, in Snyder, Texas, to George Board and Alva Mary (Douthitt) Board. She was a member of the Carroll Springs Community Church and worked as a seamstress for over 20 years at Hollywood Vassarett. Peggy loved to attend her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities and was an avid collector who enjoyed visiting garage sales. In her free time, she liked shopping, playing the piano, sewing, and playing 42. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five children, Johnny Eugene Walker, Timothy Wayne Whittenberg, Diane Whittenberg, Bobby Whittenberg, Eddie Whittenberg; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Jo Walker of Athens; her grandchildren, Christi Lee of Athens, J.D. Walker and wife Mary of Cayuga, Shane Tidwell and wife Lindsey of Whitehouse, Shannon Ellerbe and husband John of Ducktown, Tennessee, Robert Whittenberg and wife Christin of Seven Points, Amy Kelley and husband Chad of Palestine, Summer Whittenberg of Houston, Christian Hanks and husband Jamie of Poynor, Richard Bevan of Sealy, Winter Whittenberg of Henderson, Russell Bevan of Sealy, Charli Hill and husband Pete of Palestine, and Jesse Whittenberg and wife Destiny of Houston; 31 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great -grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be J.D. Walker, Shane Tidwell, Robert Whittenberg, Richard Bevan, Russell Bevan, Pete Hill, and Chad Kelley. Honorary pallbearers are Jamie Hanks and Jesse Whittenberg.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 1-2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
