William Reed "Billy" Hudnall III of Mabank, Texas, passed away in his home in the loving arms of his wife on October 16, 2025, at the age of 83. He was born on January 16, 1942, in Tyler, Texas, to loving parents William R. Hudnall Jr. and Lydia Faye (Head) Hudnall. At age two, his family moved to Baytown, Texas where he and his siblings were raised. Billy graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown in 1960 where he thrived as President of the Student Council, President of the Senior Class, Co-Captain of the football team and a member of the National Honor Society. His outgoing personality and ability to make friends continued for the rest of his life. Billy went on to earn his Associate in Arts Degree from Lee College in Baytown in 1962. He then moved to Dallas, Texas where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University in 1964. Billy passed the required board exams to become a Certified Public Accountant. He worked for two accounting firms over the years and then joined a friend in purchasing several blood plasma centers around the country. He later rejoined a prior accounting firm and continued to prepare tax returns for several clients until he retired. Billy was married to Ruth Ann (Mills) Hudnall and to this union, two children were born, Kelli (Hudnall) Gourley and Kevin Reed Hudnall. In 2002, he married Janet (Pinkerton) Hudnall, and they lived in Dallas until Janet retired in 2016. They spent the rest of their marriage living at Cedar Creek Lake in Mabank, Texas. Billy's mission in life was to gather new friends as he traveled through life and to love and support his family as a wonderful husband, father, Poppie/Grandaddy and Great Grandaddy.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Hudnall, of the home; his daughter, Kelli Gourley (Guy) of Cypress, Texas; a sister, Patricia Mangum (David) of Jersey Village, Texas; and a brother, Steve Hudnall (Marian) of Austin, Texas. He is also survived by 6 awesome and loving grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Billy was predeceased by his parents; his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin Reed Hudnall and Ashley McNulty Hudnall; and his former wife, Ruth Hudnall. He also leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces and nephews and members of his wife's family. Billy never went anywhere without meeting new friends, most of whom remained in his life until his death. He was always concerned about everyone around him and would do anything and everything for his family members, friends and new acquaintances. His absence leaves a deep abyss in the lives of those who knew and loved him, but he is at peace and has already built new friendships and connected with family in Heaven.
A Celebration of Billy's Life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 1:30-4:00 p.m. in the Club Room at Ozona Grill and Bar, 4615 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75206.

Yesterday

I was a classmate of Billy´s both at REL High School and Lee College. Billy was an outstanding leader and scholar in both schools.
He was friendly and welcoming to everyone. I see that he exhibited those traits throughout his life. I regret not getting to spend time with him in our adult lives due to my residing in North Carolina. My sympathy to Steve and Pat, to Billy´s wife and other family.
