Peggy J. Woodruff-Blair, age 90, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, February 23, 2025. A beloved resident of Brock, Texas, Peggy touched the lives of many with her kindness, grace, and unwavering devotion to family and community.
Born on November 8, 1934, in Dallas, Texas, to Herbert Nottingham and Rosa (Gann) Brashier, Peggy lived a life of service and faith. She married Paul Woodruff at age 16 and loved him tremendously; he passed away in 1971, after a hard battle with cancer. She married Parker Blair in 1972, and was blessed with a second family to love. He passed in 2020.
Peggy loved church and taught Sunday School her whole life, and enjoyed singing and harmonizing. She was a devoted member of Brock Baptist Church, and an active participant in the Woman's Missionary Union as a Girls In Action leader. Over the years, she worked as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and Campbell Memorial Hospital, as well as in several church offices, before retiring.
Peggy loved taking cruises and really enjoyed bowling. She cooked for others all of the time, for events or wherever the need was. Her warmth and generosity left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Herbert and Rosa, Peggy was preceded in death by her late husband, G. Parker Blair; first husband, Paul Woodruff; stepchildren, Mildred Blair and Patrick Blair and his wife, Marily Blair; and sister, Elaine Roberts.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Bonnie Woodruff; daughter, Paula Dowling; stepchildren and their spouses: Jimmy and Michelle Blair; Barbara and Danny Scarbrough; and Betty Blair; her sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Bland Baker; daughters-in-law, Gayla Nelson and Debbie Stephens; and many extended family members and church family.
Peggy adored her eight grandchildren, Randy, Justin, and Charla Dowling, Rachel and Ranie Woodruff, and J.J., Jaimi, and Nick Blair; as well as her fourteen great grandchildren.
