Penelope E. Burris

Penelope Emily Burris (McMahan), 87, of Vineland went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 24, 2025. Known as Penny to friends and family, she was born on February 13,1938 to Thomas E. and Cora F. McMahan.

In her younger years she worked for Korff Lumber, Southern Oxygen, Horner Mack, Tri-County Security and Aunt Cora's Daycare. She took care of friends and family that were in need. When these duties were done, she was a housewife/homemaker for the remainder of her years.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Thomas G. McMahan; nephew, T. Arthur McMahan; and niece, Karen McMahan.

She is survived by her husband of almost 67 years, Eugene R. Burris; five children and their spouses, Bob (Jen) Burris of Tennessee, Sandy (Chris) Owens of Pittsgrove, Lisa (Ed) Unchis of Vineland, Bill (Carrie) Burris of Vineland and Kim (Keith) Curtis of Alabama. Penny is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Lauren (DJ) Start, Whitney (Mitch) Busch both of Georgia, Emily Burris, Sophie Burris both of Tennessee, Michael Owens of Pittsgrove, Hannah Unchis (Brandon Brown) and Holden Unchis all of Vineland, Sam (Bri) Benfer of Georgia, Jason Hegeman of Philadelphia, Charlie Burris and Adam Burris both of Vineland, Andrew (Alexzandria) Yearicks of Millville; 9 great-grandchildren, Easton and Rowan Start, Emmit, Carson and Savannah Busch, Wesley Benfer, Silas, Vivian and Wade Yearicks. She is also survived by her Aunt, Emma Zimmerman and her niece, Susanne (Mark) Lombardo.

Friends and family will be received from 9:00am until 11:00am followed by a funeral service at 11:00am on Friday, August 29th, 2025 at DeMarco-Luisi Funeral Home 2755 S. Lincoln Ave., Vineland. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Audubon Society. https://www.audubon.org If you prefer to send flowers, the family requests that you send a potted plant. Gravesides services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
