Penelope Grady Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stephen C. Gregory and Son Cremation Service on Dec. 30, 2025.
Penelope Jean "Penny" Grady (Kenyon), 62, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, in Burlington, Vermont.
Born on April 29, 1963, in Burlington to Mildred and Leonard Kenyon, Penny grew up in a close-knit family that shaped her lifelong devotion to those around her. She carried that love forward into every chapter of her life-first as a daughter and sister, then as a wife, mother, and grandmother.
Penny was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Grady; her parents, Mildred and Leonard Kenyon; her sister, Nellie Mae Tourville; sisters-in-law Irene Kenyon and Kim Kenyon; brother-in-law Paul Morse; and cherished animal companions Lucy Shepard, her grand dog, and grand cats Maxxwell and Asia. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Alex Hammond (Stephanie) and their children, Haydon and Keegan; Michele Shepard (Eric), along with her grand dog Clarice; Wendy Smith (Lenny); Leighton Shenton and his son, Andrew; Whitney Grady and his children, Gavin, Brayden, and Jamison; and Adam Grady and his son, Maddox. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Buddy.
Penny is further survived by her siblings Pamela Morse, Dayton Kenyon, Kathleen Kenyon, Priscilla Kenyon, and Ray Kenyon, as well as a large extended family that includes many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her extended family brought her great joy, as did the many animals she lovingly cared for over the years.
Penny had a deep love for children and animals-a passion that defined much of who she was. She delighted in collecting frogs, a whimsical hobby that reflected her playful spirit. Kind-hearted and generous, Penny was always ready to lend a hand or offer comfort. Her warm energy made others feel welcome and loved. A kid at heart, she found joy in the simple things, especially when surrounded by family.
Her home was often filled with laughter, warmth, and the sounds of little feet-both human and furry. Family was the cornerstone of Penny's world. Whether celebrating milestones or offering support during difficult times, she remained a constant source of strength for those around her.
A celebration of Penny's life will take place in April 2026, around what would have been her 63rd birthday. Details will be shared at a later date.
May Penny's memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
