Penny Wortham Barabas

Oct. 18, 1958 ~ Sept. 22, 2025

On September 22, 2025. surrounded by the love of her family, Penny Kay Wortham Barabas went home to be with the Lord.

She was born in Waco, Texas, to Joe Wortham and Wanda (Bridges) Campbell, and her life was defined by a deep love for family, friendship, and the simple joys of life.

Penny is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Amber Kolbe, and son-in-law, Anthony Kolbe, along with their son, Asher; her son, Waylon Barabas, and daughter-in-law, Jordan Barabas, and their children, Gavin, Syler, Hudson, and Brigham. She also leaves behind her brothers, Danny Wortham and Roger Wortham, and her stepbrothers, Robert King and Jimmy King. She was preceded in death by her parents and her older brother, Ernest Wortham.

For more than 30 years, Penny worked as a housekeeper, where her clients quickly became more than clients; they became like family. Through loyalty, kindness, and trust, she built lasting connections that endured far beyond her work.

Penny found joy in life's simplest treasures. She loved listening to songwriters, blowing bubbles, tending to her plants and flowers, and watching the hummingbirds. Above all, she cherished her children and grandchildren, who were the greatest joy of her life. Penny made her home on Wortham Bend, just off the Brazos River-a place she held close to her heart and where she found peace. She lived humbly, never seeking extravagance, but always finding beauty in small moments and genuine connections. To those who knew her, Penny was a loyal friend, remembered for her honesty, her strength, and her true-hearted love.

Most importantly, Penny gave her soul to Jesus Christ, and her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace in His eternal care.

A graveside service to celebrate Penny's life will be held 10 AM Monday, September 29, 2025, at Patrick Cemetery in China Spring. All who knew and loved her are warmly invited to join in honoring and remembering her.
